Football: Gillingham 1 - 0 AFC Wimbledon
A dent in Wimbledon's play-off hopes
Substitute Joe Gbode scored the decisive goal at Priestfield to hand Gillingham a 1–0 victory and deliver a significant blow to AFC Wimbledon's hopes of securing automatic promotion from League Two.

The Gills, now unbeaten in seven matches under Gareth Ainsworth, took the lead shortly after the hour mark. Gbode found space in the box and lashed a powerful finish past Owen Goodman.
Wimbledon had earlier spurned chances to go in front. Joe Lewis rose to meet a James Tilley free-kick but sent his header over the bar, while Alistair Smith dragged a low drive narrowly wide of the far post.

Their wastefulness was punished when Remeao Hutton slid a well-weighted pass into the path of Bradley Dack, who squared it for Gbode to finish first time.
Johnnie Jackson’s side pressed in the final minutes in search of an equaliser, but Gillingham stood firm to record a second successive home win.
The impact on Wimbledon's season
Despite the defeat, Wimbledon remain in the play-off positions with two matches left to play.

Kristiansen, a huge AFC Wimbledon fan, told us: "Not a great performance but this could still be a successful season for the club. Onwards and upwards. Let's just forget about that defeat now."
