The Blues initially took the lead with a goal from Pedro Neto, but they conceded twice and lost Jackson to a red card in a disastrous six-minute stretch after halftime.
Neto's composed finish underneath the goalkeeper gave the Premier League side a promising start. However, Flamengo struck back with two goals from substitute Bruno Henrique and Danilo, who both scored from close range at the far post to turn the game around.

Referee Ivan Barton issued a red card to Jackson after his studs made contact with Lucas Ayrton's shin during a reckless challenge. Wallace Yan then capped off the scoring, resulting in a damaging 3-1 defeat for Chelsea.

This loss leaves Chelsea needing a victory over African side ES Tunis on Tuesday to advance to the last 16. The defeat also increases the likelihood that they will face the winner of Group C, which could be Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
On the other hand, Flamengo appears set to finish at the top of Group D, ensuring that South American clubs remain undefeated in the tournament.
Did Chelsea underestimate the Brazilian side?
William G, is a Liverpool fan, and said:" I remember Flamengo playing agaunst us in 2019. They were unlucky not to have won that game. I don't find this score particularly surprising. I think Chelsea probably underestimated the Brazilian side."
Flamengo's former Chelsea midfielder Jorginho, spoke with the media after the match. He said: "I think it says it all. For the game and how it was, we played good football and did really well on the pitch. When we had to wait, we waited. When we had to press, we put them in trouble. We worked a lot on how we could hurt them, we believe in what we do and we push all together."
Peter Waterman, a Chelsea fan, was fuming with the team he supports. He referenced the red card as a key moment in the match, saying: "That was a massive error of judgement from the player but there should be individuals who can gather the players and say, let's calm down a bit. You just don't really see that with us. The Conference League was great but it feels like we will need three or players if we're going to challenge for the Premier League or Champions League."
