Gig Review | Supergrass at Camden Roundhouse
The Britpop legends still have it
Formed in 1993, they carved out their place in the Britpop hall of fame. Thirty years later, they’re still delivering. They are still alright in every sense of the word.

This gig was night one of a three-show run at Camden’s Roundhouse and they kicked things off in style.
All three nights were sold out. This was no surprise, because this is the 30th anniversary of the debut record. An album that not only soundtracked the ‘90s but sent them into legendary status. People were here for a party and a nostalgia trip.
What hat remains unchanged since those halcyon days of the mid 1990s is Supergrass’s signature sound. This was a sound that urgent yet playful. It was unmistakably and unashamedly 1995. This was no bad thing.
The songs on the night
They flew through their classic. There was the likes of ‘I Should Coco’ in full before adding hits like ‘Moving’ and ‘Pumping on Your Stereo’ to the mix. Earlier in the set comes ‘Lose It’. The atmosphere was incredible throughout. Check out the video below for just a flavour of what was going on. One person next to me even said: "Are they even better than they were in the 90s, maybe they've improved with age and maturity."
It was hard to argue with that last comment.
This was the full setlist:

- Caught by the Fuzz
- Mansize Rooster
- Alright
- Lose It

Our final verdict from those that were there
Supergrass were undoubtedly one of the standout bands of the 1990s, and this performance was a strong reminder of why they still hold such a special place in British music. The atmosphere was buzzing from start to finish, with a crowd that clearly came to celebrate every moment.
From the first chord to the final encore, the band delivered a set packed with energy, confidence and timeless tunes. It was a night full of charm and swagger that firmly cemented their status in the Britpop pantheon. Simply put, they were nothing short of brilliant.

The best reaction
Josh T said: "What struck me throughout the set was how cohesive this album still feels. This is largely because the band themselves are still a cohesive unit. Something that can't be said of all the bands from that era."
Ed added: "For me, Supergrass have always been Britpop’s lovable misfits. They swagger on stage, wild-haired and with a glint of chaos in their eyes. So when the lights dropped in Camden, the crowd knew they were in for an exciting couple of hours."
Frank was also there, he told us: "It was amazing. Just like being in the 1990s. Music and life was just better then."
