Premier League | Kudus at West Ham

Kudus, a Ghana international, has agreed a six-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.

Kudus, who had an £85m release clause, had been the subject of a failed £50m bid from Spurs last week. The 24-year-old made 65 Premier League appearances for West Ham, scoring 13 goals and registering nine assists.

The move brings to an end his stint in East London, which began in August 2023 when he joined from Ajax for £38m.

Kudus made his Premier League debut as a substitute in a win over Luton Town and opened his account for the Hammers shortly after, scoring during the Europa League group stage.

He could soon be joined in north London by Morgan Gibbs-White. The Nottingham Forest midfielder is expected to undergo a medical ahead of a potential £60m transfer.

Who are Tottenham signing?

Kudus impressed in his debut season at West Ham, scoring 14 goals in all competitions and emerging as one of the club’s most consistent performers.

He then endured a disappointing second season at West Ham, struggling to find form under Graham Potter following the manager’s arrival in January 2024.

The Ghanaian found it difficult to adapt to Potter’s wing-back system, with his only notable contribution a goal on the final day of the campaign against an already-relegated Ipswich Town. It was just one of two goals he managed under the former Brighton manager.

Potter frequently used Kudus as a central striker, a role that did not play to his strengths. He was seldom deployed on the right flank, widely regarded as his most effective position but one already occupied by club captain Jarrod Bowen.
