It is believed to be a record fee of more than £20 million to sign him from Tottenham. Hotspur. The deal includes an option to extend the South Korea captain’s stay by a further two years. Son confirmed in a press conference on Saturday that he would be leaving Tottenham after a decade at the club.
He was in attendance on Tuesday night as LAFC claimed a win over Tigres UANL in the Leagues Cup. The move sees him reunite with former Spurs team-mate Hugo Lloris, with LAFC currently sitting sixth in the Western Conference.
Son made his final appearance in a Tottenham shirt a few days ago, coming off the bench in a 1-1 pre-season draw against Newcastle in his hometown of Seoul. It brought the curtain down on a remarkable spell in north London.
Arriving from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, Son went on to score 173 goals in 454 appearances for Spurs. He was named club captain last season and led the team to their first trophy in 17 years, lifting the Europa League title in May after a 1-0 win over Manchester United in the final.

How much will the club miss the player?
The numbers alone offer a clear picture. Son Heung-min scored 173 goals for Tottenham, the fifth most in the club’s history, and provided 101 assists in 454 appearances. His 127 goals in the Premier League place him joint 16th on the all-time list. He also holds the club’s record for most assists in the Premier League, with 71.
In the 2021–22 season, he became the first Asian player to win the Premier League’s Golden Boot, sharing the accolade with Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah after scoring 23 goals. His legacy is not just one of consistent output, but of trailblazing moments and milestone achievements.
Statue for Son?
One Spurs fan told London Super News: "Not only is he a wonderfully gifted footballer, but he's also an incredible human being who has touched hearts and inspired people throughout the club and all over the world," one supporter said. "Sonny has given so much to this club, both on and off the pitch, and for that we are forever grateful. I wish him all the best for the future and I am sure he will always be welcome back as a beloved and cherished member of our Spurs family."
A statue may not yet be in the works, but few would dispute that he has earned legendary status at Tottenham.
