The home side collapsed late as Brighton secured a dramatic comeback, capitalising on another sending-off for the Blues. Trevoh Chalobah was dismissed in the 53rd minute following a reckless challenge on Georginio Rutter, leaving Chelsea to defend with ten men for the remainder of the match.
The Blues had seemed in control after Enzo Fernandez's first-half header, set up by Reece James and aided by a deflection from Kaoru Mitoma. Yet Mitoma’s persistence paid off as he regained possession from debutant Andrey Santos, sparking Brighton’s late surge, with substitutes Danny Welbeck and Maxim de Cuyper netting in added time to snatch victory.
Let's explore some of the best reaction
Derek: What a dreadful performance. They completely lost control in the second half. If you cannot keep 11 players on the pitch, victory is out of reach. The players losing their composure only makes things worse. Maresca really needs to make significant changes. Two poor results in a row is unacceptable.

Foxy: No disrespect to Maresca, but he comes across as an average coach. Imagine having costly players and still failing to organise the defence, conceding goals due to individual errors. He has not instilled discipline either, with players constantly picking up red cards. Chelsea should consider appointing someone more experienced.
James: Maresca’s in-game decisions are lacking. He removes pace and creativity, and it simply does not work. It is too early to discuss sacking him, but improvements are urgently needed or pressure will mount.
Jonathan: Chelsea have no coherent transfer strategy, weak goalkeepers, inexperienced central defenders, and a very inexperienced manager. Relegation could be a real threat.
