The newly promoted side began with purpose and were rewarded when Goodwin struck high into the net from a 13th-minute corner. The 22-year-old doubled the lead just before the hour, finishing from close range after good work from Nikita Parris.
Everton pulled one back with 19 minutes remaining after Jana Fernandez fouled substitute Yuka Momiki in the area. Momiki calmly converted the penalty, but the hosts could not find a leveller as London City held firm for a landmark win.
The result lifts London City to eighth in the WSL, with Everton sitting sixth.

Backed by ambitious American owner Michele Kang, who oversaw 16 summer signings, it was Goodwin who made the decisive impact. Last season’s Championship top scorer with 16 goals had four attempts here, converting two and posing a constant threat.
She might have completed a hat-trick, firing narrowly wide after a powerful run through the Everton defence, but her brace was enough to make history. Jocelyn Precheur’s side now face Manchester City next weekend at the Joie Stadium, with the confidence of a first top-flight victory behind them.
What's next?
London City Lionesses are facing a trip to WSL2 side Crystal Palace in the League Cup. They will be looking to build on this win and performance as the matches start coming thick and fast.
