Aggie Beever-Jones was named WSL player of the month after scoring in all four of Chelsea’s fixtures, opening the scoring in victories against Manchester City, Aston Villa, Leicester City and West Ham United. The 22-year-old finished ahead of a shortlist that included Aoba Fujino, Alessia Russo, Anna Sandberg, Maisie Symonds and Cathinka Tandberg.
Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor, who guided the team to the 2024-25 WSL title and an unbeaten 22-game campaign, was awarded manager of the month. Tottenham Hotspur’s Martin Ho, Manchester City’s Andree Jeglertz and Manchester United’s Marc Skinner were also in contention.

More deserved success
The scary thing for Chelsea’s opponents, at home and abroad, is that Chelsea haven’t even played that well. Despite this, they are still unbeaten. In their Champions League opener, they were poor for parts of the match but still managed a credible draw.
Seb, a Chelsea fan, told us: “Probably lucky to win both to be honest, but these awards will probably bring in extra confidence, which is never a bad thing.
An Arsenal player wins goal of the month
Arsenal’s Olivia Smith won goal of the month for September with her strike in the Gunners’ 4-1 opening victory over London City Lionesses. A worthy winner.
