Players celebrate after a goal v Manchester United |
Can Thiago star again?
After the summer departures of Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbuemo last season, the responsibility for goals has shifted to Igor Thiago, who has handled the pressure impressively.
The powerful striker is second only to Erling Haaland in the Premier League scoring charts this season, with four goals in six matches, including a double against Manchester United last weekend.
Another key figure is Jordan Henderson, who has fitted seamlessly into Brentford’s midfield since his summer arrival.
Throwback to last weekend
After that win over United, Brentford season ticket holder James told London Super News: "Thiago scoring twice so early was unbelievable, it set the tone and you could feel the whole stadium buzzing."
Priya, another Brentford fan added: "Ouattara and Jensen really showed their quality. Jensen finishing it off in stoppage time was just perfect, the celebrations were pure joy."
Team news for the home side
Brentford have provided an update on the fitness of Fábio Carvalho, Reiss Nelson, Gustavo Nunes and Paris Maghoma ahead of Sunday’s meeting with Manchester City.
Carvalho is expected to return to training in the coming days and could feature at the Etihad after missing the win over Manchester United with a minor knee problem.
Nelson is also in contention, having not played since his debut in the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa. The winger has recovered from illness and is back in full training.
Who could be involved for the away side?
Pep Guardiola could be boosted by the return of Omar Marmoush, with the City manager having suggested the forward would be available before the October international break.
The Egyptian has been sidelined with a knee injury sustained during the last round of internationals, ruling him out of matches against Manchester United, Napoli, Arsenal, Huddersfield, Burnley and Monaco.
Rayan Ait-Nouri remains a doubt, while Rayan Cherki has returned to training earlier than anticipated but is not yet ready to be involved.
