The two teams have some interesting history, facing each other 62 times, with Charlton winning 20 matches, Sheffield Wednesday 26, and 16 games ending in draws. The last meeting, in February 2023, saw Wednesday secure a 1-0 victory at The Valley, with Liam Palmer scoring the only goal of the match.
Last time out and that defeat against Preston
A poor result at Deepdale. Former Addick Thierry Small gave the home side the lead in the 67th minute with a contentious goal that took a deflection and looped over Thomas Kaminski.
As the Addicks chased an equaliser in response to Small's goal, the home side took advantage, adding a second to make sure of the three points.

Team news for Charlton ahead of the weekend
Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Charlton boss Nathan Jones said: "Matty Godden is closer to returning, and we've been able to get minutes into Luke Berry, Harvey Knibbs, and Will Mannion. Josh Edwards has had a surgical procedure, which was the best-case scenario, speeding up the recovery process, but that is ongoing."
A closer look at the opposition
Crisis for the current situation at Sheffield Wednesday would be an understatement. They were reportedly served with a winding-up petition this week after a period of huge financial problems.
They currently sit 23rd in the Championship having taken six points from their opening nine games. Henrik Pedersen's side suffered a heavy defeat at the hands of Coventry City last time out before the international break, losing 5-0 to the league leaders at Hillsborough.

Key stats and things to think about
Historically, Charlton Athletic have struggled against Sheffield Wednesday, having failed to win in their last seven league meetings (drawing once and losing six) while also failing to score in six of those matches.
However, their recent home form tells a different story: Charlton have won 14 of their last 18 league fixtures at home, drawing three and losing just once. In 2025, they have already claimed 12 home league victories, their highest tally in a single year since 2019, when they won 13.
James Bree has been a key contributor for Charlton this season, registering four goal involvements in five Championship appearances, with two goals and two assists. His goal or assist every 89 minutes ranks as the fourth-best ratio among players with more than 300 minutes of action this season.
