The reaction to the result and performance was mainly positive. However, some fans were concerned about the chances and missed opportunities.
Let's explore some of the best fan comments
Robbie: I’m still not convinced. They won, yes, but they remain wasteful. Why spend so much on Eze and then not start him? The side is not ruthless enough. They were better last year even though they fell short. Back then they were more fluid – look at the results against Sporting and Real Madrid. Now it feels like a return to a dull Arsenal. One improvement, at least, is that they are trying to play through balls to [Viktor] Gyokeres. [Gabriel] Martinelli and [Martin] Odegaard appear to have regained some of their form, but no excuses. No trophy, and it should be farewell Arteta.
Jonathan: Good enough to win the game in the end, but they will need to raise their performance against the stronger teams as the season progresses.
Michael: Cool and clinical tonight. It was a tough match, made harder by our own misplaced passes and poor touches. In the end, I’m a bit disappointed it wasn’t more, but a win is a win. Up the Gunners.
Sammy: I have very positive feelings about Arsenal this season. Our squad depth is the best I’ve seen in my 30 years following the club, but the Premier League must remain the priority.
Leigh: They got the job done, but it is still unconvincing. The ball does not move quickly enough in attack and they still lack a cutting edge. Arsenal can be a difficult team to watch.
Alan: With better finishing it could have been a cricket score. Odegaard delivered his best performance of the past 18 months. [Leandro] Trossard once again proves he does not belong in the starting XI. [David] Raya is the best signing Arteta has made; he is the most consistent player we have and should have been player of the season.
Terrence: Odegaard being back from injury has been a massive boost. He dictated play and played a crucial part in that dramatic win. He was superb against Olympiacos and is going to be crucial for our chances of winning a major trophy this season.
