They scored four times in a dazzling 14-minute spell to sweep aside Atletico Madrid. As you can imagine, Arsenal fans were delighted with their win and performance.

The best comments

Tony: Another commanding defensive display, with the substitutes making a real difference. Gyokeres worked tirelessly and fully deserved his brace. I have a funny feeling that this is going to be a fantastic season for us.

Mark: Impressed, but consistency will define whether this season is truly successful. It is a marathon, not a sprint. Great to see Viktor Gyokeres on the scoresheet. I have been waiting for that moment.

Philip: Patient, composed, ruthless and defensively assured. Arsenal at their finest? The depth of the squad is beginning to tell, and confidence is growing with each game.

Becki: Another win. Team looks solid. We need to keep this momentum going now.

Sam: No side in Europe will want to face us now. The big question now is, can we maintain this form in multiple competitions. We certainly have the squad depth compared to last season.

Lewis: A superb display against a high-quality opponent. They could have been more clinical in the first half, and that is something to refine for tighter contests. Myles Lewis-Skelly’s positioning made his runs far more threatening to the opposition while keeping Arsenal secure.

Ryan: Grit before glamour. Gyokeres’s goals may not have been beautiful, but he was sharp and decisive when it mattered. Lewis-Skelly’s burst that led to Gabriel Martinelli’s goal was pure determination. There was no shortage of flair either. Bukayo Saka left the left back chasing shadows. A brilliant game for the supporters.

Daniel: Arsenal were outstanding overall against a strong and organised opponent. They were clinical after the interval and scored fine goals. Gyokeres played with confidence, took his chances superbly and looked a constant menace in front of goal. The challenge now is to maintain that energy and keep winning against tougher sides than Atletico Madrid.
