The Wales international’s goals, either side of Million Manhoef’s strike, left boss Nathan Jones watching his side capitulate once more in the opening 45 minutes.
Just four days after conceding five before half-time against Southampton, Charlton were again cut adrift early. Stoke, seeking to bounce back from consecutive defeats, moved above Middlesbrough into second, while leaders Coventry remain an astonishing ten points clear.
The opener came courtesy of a stroke of fortune, with Eric-Junior Bocat’s persistence delivering the ball to Thomas, whose cross looped over Charlton keeper Thomas Kaminski.
Charlton’s night worsened within five minutes as Thomas doubled his tally. Viktor Johansson’s long ball was contested in the box, falling to Thomas who found Manhoef on the right; the winger cut inside to slot low past Kaminski.
A slightly better performance compared to Saturday

The Addicks managed to withstand the storm slightly longer than against Southampton but conceded a third before half-time after Thomas’ second. Luke Berry’s long-range effort offered some hope after the hour, yet Stoke substitute Sam Gallagher came closest to adding a late fourth.
After the match, Charlton boss Nathan Jones told local media: "We've come here looking to bounce back and that start has killed us because goals change games. It's very difficult to say I'm pleased about anything tonight because we have just lost 3-0 away from home.
"We were really open. We weren't at the levels we needed to be. The first was a stroke of good fortune and the second we feel is a foul and the third is a big error again. You have to defend it better. We have been stretched in recent weeks, injury-wise, but it wasn't good enough."
