Football Review | Wycombe Wanderers 4 - 1 Leyton Orient
A poor afternoon at Wycombe for Leyton Orient
Fred Onyedinma struck twice as Wycombe stretched their unbeaten League One run to five matches with a commanding 4-1 victory over Leyton Orient.

Onyedinma opened the scoring early on, latching onto Luke Leahy’s lofted pass and hooking the ball into the top corner. Aaron Connolly levelled for Orient from the penalty spot after Dom Ballard was brought down by Will Norris, and the visitors briefly enjoyed their best spell of the game.
However, Wycombe soon reasserted control, with Onyedinma adding his second before Dan Casey powered home a header from a corner to give the hosts a commanding half-time lead.
Richie Wellens named an unchanged eleven from the side that beat Lincoln City a fortnight ago, but his team struggled to contain Wycombe’s direct attacking play. Orient showed signs of life after the interval, as substitutes Charlie Wellens and Sonny Perkins combined neatly before the former shot narrowly wide. Connolly also came close to a second, but Wycombe’s defensive resilience held firm.
The Chairboys added a fourth late on when substitute Donnell McNeilly broke clear and, though his effort was parried by Sam Howes, Sam Bell reacted quickest to slot in the rebound. Wellens saw a deflected drive saved by Norris near the end, but by then the result was beyond doubt as Wycombe claimed a comfortable win in Buckinghamshire.
The best reaction
This defeat means Orient have now conceded 27 goals in the league, the second-highest tally so far. Their defensive performance once again raised concerns for Richie Wellens, who had suggested before kick-off that his side had turned a corner and begun to address their problems at the back.
'All round, really poor' 🗣️

The gaffer's take on today's defeat at Wycombe Wanderers 👇#LOFC #OneOrient
Wellens told the media after the match: “We were poor. Really poor. From the start, really. You won’t see four worst goals given away around the country today. Some up by the last one. To be fair, we started the second half well. We looked like we were going to get back into the game, but all round really, really poor.” They were so inconsistent. For one week they looked very solid defensively. So again, that is my job. I need to put my finger on it. We have to defend inside and deep and again. Defensively, we were not at it.”
Seb, a Leyton Orient season ticket holder who was in the away end, told us: “An awful performance. I am a bit concerned that we might find ourselves in a relegation battle.”
