Tottenham eased the pressure on Thomas Frank
This was a convincing victory over Frank's former club Brentford

The Bees arrived at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with all the ingredients for an awkward afternoon, especially with Frank still working to persuade supporters he is the right figure to lead them forward. Instead, against a club where he once enjoyed hero status, Spurs produced a performance that lifted the mood and built on their midweek draw at Newcastle.
Xavi Simons, a summer arrival, was at the heart of it. He created a simple opener for Richarlison before setting off on a run from inside his own half and scoring his first goal for the club with a calm finish.
From there, Spurs were rarely troubled, managing the second half with assurance and securing a result that Frank and his players badly needed.
Frank finally finds some home comfort
Frank has struggled to convince a section of the fanbase, who have raised doubts about his approach and whether he has the personality to guide the club back into the title conversation. Frustration had already spilled over twice in recent weeks, first after the passive display in the 4-1 derby defeat at Arsenal and again during the 2-1 loss at home to Fulham.
There was at least character on show in the comeback draw at Newcastle, and this performance offered another step in the right direction as Spurs at last worked out how to win on their own patch.
Before this match Spurs had managed only three wins in 16 home league fixtures in 2025, losing 10 of them. Frank knows that pattern has to change. This was only their second home league victory of the season, the first having arrived on the opening weekend against Burnley, but there were genuine signs of encouragement.
Simons’ display will be one of the main positives. His £52m move from RB Leipzig was made with the expectation that he could become the creative heartbeat of this side, and here he looked every inch that player, knitting together an attack led by Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison and Randal Kolo Muani.
Home comforts have been scarce for Spurs this year. This was a rare afternoon that suggested better days might finally be within reach.
