The right-back has not featured for Arsenal since suffering a groin injury in the win over Everton in March.
The position had become a growing concern for Arteta, with his other natural option, Ben White, ruled out by a knee ligament injury.
Spain centre-back Cristhian Mosquera has filled in there at times this season, while midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Declan Rice have also been used in the role.

Timber has been pictured training in Budapest as Arsenal continue their preparations for the meeting with Luis Enrique's reigning European champions.
There was further encouragement for Arteta after he confirmed that Noni Madueke, who went off with a hamstring issue against Crystal Palace last weekend, is available for selection.
Arteta also rejected suggestions that the pressure is off Arsenal after already ending their long wait for a Premier League title this season.
How important has Timber been for Arsenal?
Since Arsenal signed Timber before the start of the 2023/2024 season, he has played over 90 times and scored 6 goals in all competitions.
Despite being am important player for Mikel Arteta's side, Timber has suffered from a few injuries including one that kept him out for the majority of that first season.
