Millwall head into the final day of the season locked in a three-way contest for second place, having amassed 80 points from 45 Championship matches.

Alex Neil’s side ended last weekend level with Ipswich Town after Macaulay Langstaff struck a 90th-minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw away at relegated Leicester City.

Since then, the picture has shifted slightly. Ipswich’s midweek draw with Southampton has left Millwall a point shy of second, while they remain a point ahead of Middlesbrough in third.

Promotion to the top flight for the first time in 36 years remains within reach

Victory in this match over Oxford United, combined with Ipswich dropping points at home to Queens Park Rangers, would seal it.

Recent form offers some encouragement, with two wins from their last three outings. Yet there is also a note of caution. Millwall have lost their final Championship fixture in four of the past five seasons and have not beaten Oxford in their last four league meetings, a run stretching back to a 2-1 win at the Kassam Stadium in October 2016.
