Football News | Nicolas Jackson expected to return to Chelsea squad for pre season
Could Nicolas Jackson improve Chelsea's attack next season?
He is expected to be available for Chelsea during pre-season as his loan spell with Bayern Munich comes to an end.
The 24-year-old striker will not be joining the German champions on a permanent deal and remains under contract at Stamford Bridge until 2033.
A key factor behind Jackson's departure on deadline day last summer was his loss of favour under former head coach Enzo Maresca.
New manager Xabi Alonso, working alongside the club's sporting directors, will now assess his attacking options and decide which strikers will form part of Chelsea's squad next season.
In 81 matches for Chelsea, Jackson scored 30 goals and played a part in them winning both the Conference League and the Club World Cup.
During his season at Bayern Munich, he scored 11 goals and won the double. He put in some decent performances but clearly didn't do enough to sign a permanent deal.
Other squad updates from Chelsea
Joao Pedro is expected to remain at the club, with Chelsea viewing him as not for sale despite interest from Barcelona. Liam Delap and Emmanuel Emegha are also among the forward options under consideration.
Emegha is set to arrive at Chelsea this summer from sister club Strasbourg.
Chelsea finished 10th in the Premier League last season and missed out on qualification for European competition.
