Football Analysis | Pressure builds on Sage at Crystal Palace
It feels like it's all going wrong for Crystal Palace
Another defeat, this time away at Tottenham Hotspur

Pierre Sage is under mounting pressure after a defeat left his side in the bottom three. However, it was difficult not to feel some sympathy for the Frenchman, who succeeded Oliver Glasner in the summer.
Failure to build on midweek Cup win
Sage would have been desperate for Palace to build on the relief of their EFL Cup victory at Fulham, but an encouraging start was undone by Jean-Mateta's reckless challenge.

Palace were also guilty of poor defending, or a complete lack of marking, from the Kudus corner that allowed Gray to open the scoring for Spurs 12 minutes later.
Sage's side continued to show plenty of determination
The travelling supporters even chanted the manager's name during the second half. However, Palace were eventually overwhelmed, with goalkeeper Dean Henderson producing several excellent saves late on.
This was not the performance of a group of players who have lost faith in their head coach. Sage had a difficult task following Glasner, who delivered the FA Cup and UEFA Conference League, but results ultimately determine a manager's future. Palace's have been poor, leaving them firmly in the relegation places.
