Tottenham Hotspur v Doncaster Rovers in Carabao Cup |
Even the solitary draw carried a sense of triumph for some supporters, as Spurs came from two goals down to earn a 2-2 result against Brighton last weekend, a point that keeps them level with Arsenal in the table, separated only by goal difference.
Frank’s start has offered striking contrast to the struggles of last season. His return of 10 points from his first five Premier League matches is double the tally Ange Postecoglou managed across his final 12 games in charge. Spurs are also adjusting to a new era off the pitch, following the departure of long-serving chairman Daniel Levy.
Last time out for Spurs
Against Doncaster in the Carabao Cup, Thomas Frank underlined the depth of his squad by making seven changes from last weekend’s draw at Brighton, yet Spurs maintained their fluency in what was a comfortable 3-0 win.
Christopher, a Spurs season ticket holder, told London Super News after the match: “I think the main takeaway for Spurs from this game is that, despite all the changes, we were not a disjointed side relying on individual talent but a cohesive team.
Team news
Thomas Frank is set to restore several first-team regulars for the visit of Wolves, with Guglielmo Vicario, Cristian Romero, Micky van de Ven and Mohammed Kudus all expected to return after being rested against Doncaster.
There is a call to make at full-back with Destiny Udogie back to fitness, while Brennan Johnson’s goal in midweek could see him handed a start out wide, with Lucas Bergvall and Xavi Simons operating through the middle.
Richarlison is likely to lead the attack after Mathys Tel failed to impress as a lone striker in midweek. Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani both remain sidelined through injury.
